How long have you been practicing?
6 or 7 months
Where do you primarily practice?
West Linn, it’s just 5 minutes from my house
What brought you to the yoga?
I quit smoking, quit drinking soda pop, but still wasn’t feeling as good as I thought I should. I had gained a lot of weight, and knew that I needed some form of exercise. I hate gyms and walking for 10 or 20 miles every day in the rain and cold just had no appeal to me. My friend Tony Roberts, who is a yoga instructor encouraged me to give yoga a try. I looked at you tube videos and thought about it. It seemed to be the right fit. I chose Bikram Yoga in all reality because it was easy to register for a class and it was only 5 minutes away. Even though I wasn’t sure about the 105 degree room bit, still it was easier to do this than try and find some other obscure place in the OC area.
Why do you continue to do the yoga?
I feel better than I have in a long time
What other activities do you enjoy or participate in?
I like to camp, though rarely have time anymore.
I can’t say I have a favorite. I still don’t know the names of most of them but the first sitting on your knees pose, right after the laying on the stomach pose. I like that one, not because of the pose, but because this is the second time I take some water in the 90 minutes.
What words of advice do you have for a new student?
You have to keep going.
